Resource Works is partnering with the Canadian Institute of Forestry \/ Institut forestier du Canada to support British Columbia forest communities in marking National Forest Week, Sept. 20-26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prince George was among the first municipalities to adopt a declaration declaring the city’s participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2020 marks the centennial anniversary of this national campaign led by the CIF-IFC. The one-week campaign that takes place the last week of September each year challenges Canadians across the country to learn more about the forest sector and its significance to Canada\u2019s culture, history, and future, while also supporting a greater recognition of forests as a valuable, renewable and green resource.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s theme is “Healthy Forests, Healthy Future\u201d, focusing on the importance of safeguarding the health of Canada\u2019s forests as a critical nature-based solution to mitigate climate change. Forestry communities understand that a healthy forest can mean family-supporting incomes for forestry workers, manufacturing companies and others in the forestry supply chain, opportunities for small, locally-owned businesses and economic development for Indigenous communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participating in #NationalForestWeek can be as simple as declaring National Forest Week in a community, sharing posts and graphics on social media created by CIF-IFC and using the hashtag #NationalForestWeek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resource Works will also be sharing stories about working forests and forestry communities throughout the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
