{"id":82139,"date":"2018-07-17T06:57:00","date_gmt":"2018-07-17T06:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/resourcework2.devstudio.work\/?p=82139"},"modified":"2024-11-28T04:52:13","modified_gmt":"2024-11-28T04:52:13","slug":"global-trend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/resourcework2.devstudio.work\/?p=82139","title":{"rendered":"Federal move to buy oil pipeline reflects global trend"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>State-backed investments are accounting for a rising share of global energy investment, as state-owned enterprises have remained more resilient in oil and gas and thermal power compared with the private sector, according to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iea.org\/wei2018\/\"><em>World Energy Investment 2018<\/em><\/a>\u00a0report from the IEA:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"678\" height=\"468\" src=\"https:\/\/resourcework2.devstudio.work\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/chart.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-87980\" srcset=\"https:\/\/resourcework2.devstudio.work\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/chart.jpg 678w, https:\/\/resourcework2.devstudio.work\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/chart-300x207.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 678px) 100vw, 678px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When Canadian finance minister Bill Morneau&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/politics\/liberals-trans-mountain-pipeline-kinder-morgan-1.4681911\">announced the Trans Mountain deal in May<\/a>,&nbsp;he said the project is in the national interest, and proceeding with it will preserve jobs, reassure investors and get resources to world markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The share of global energy investment driven by state-owned enterprises increased over the past five years to over 40 percent in 2017.
