{"id":82433,"date":"2017-02-02T05:38:00","date_gmt":"2017-02-02T06:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/resourcework2.devstudio.work\/?p=82433"},"modified":"2024-11-18T16:35:52","modified_gmt":"2024-11-18T16:35:52","slug":"lng-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/resourcework2.devstudio.work\/?p=82433","title":{"rendered":"Real voices of LNG leadership: First Nations chiefs speak out"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>These hereditary chiefs have been meeting and evaluating an LNG pipeline project for close to four years, and on behalf of their&nbsp;<em>huwilp<\/em>&nbsp;in northern British Columbia recently describe how they came to view a pipeline planned to run underground on their&nbsp;<em>wilp lax yip<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Prince Rupert Gas Transmission (PRGT) pipeline is proposed to cross (buried underground) ten individual Gitxsan huwilp\u2019s lax yip (Delgamuukw, Geel, Gitluudaahlxw, Gwiiyeehl, Yagosip, Kliiyeem Lax Ha, Luutkudziiwus, Wii Eelast, Wii Mukwilixw, Guutginuuxs) for a total of 120 kms. These three&nbsp;<em>Simgiigyat<\/em>&nbsp;Mauus, Wosimlaxha, and Gyet\u2019mgaldo\u2019o, also sat at the table for the last 3.5 years.<\/p>\n\n\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">According to a statement from the chiefs: &#8220;All but one&nbsp;<em>wilp<\/em>&nbsp;participated at the common table. Many efforts were made over almost four years to include participation from all the&nbsp;<em>Simgiigyat<\/em>&nbsp;at one table to deal with questions and concerns arising from the proposed project and to negotiate a benefits agreement. In the absence of this one&nbsp;<em>wilp<\/em>\u2019s participation the benefits agreement has made allowances for that&nbsp;<em>wilp<\/em>&nbsp;should they choose to sign.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>For
