These issues are not raised very often, and when they are, they can struggle to get the attention they deserve. That\u2019s why we are encouraged to see a whole suite of intriguing writing on gender issues relating to resource industries from the Australian research organization Factive<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organization is currently promoting the book So you think you\u2019re tough? Getting serious about gender in mining<\/em> by Dr. Dean Laplonge. This collection of essays reviews years of work exploring gender in the mining industry and challenges mining professionals to think about gender diversity in more complex ways. The book focuses on worthwhile topics such as gender and safety and gender in leadership in a traditionally male-dominated industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019re also encouraged by some of the titles coming up in the next few months from Factive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Women in resources and attitudes towards the environment<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Building an ecofeminist interest in mining<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Bringing gender into environmental management in mining: preliminary thoughts, early warnings<\/p>\n\n\n\n
