{"id":94125,"date":"2025-01-21T08:37:00","date_gmt":"2025-01-21T08:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/resourcework2.devstudio.work\/?p=94125"},"modified":"2025-03-30T01:12:38","modified_gmt":"2025-03-30T01:12:38","slug":"scrapped-pipelines-canada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/resourcework2.devstudio.work\/?p=94125","title":{"rendered":"Scrapped pipelines cost Canada billions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Since 2015, when Justin Trudeau became prime minister, Canada has cancelled pipelines and resource projects worth a staggering amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One observer, Canada Action, calculates the lost opportunities as worth&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadaaction.ca\/canada-has-670-billion-in-cancelled-suspended-resource-projects-since-2015\">$670 billion<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our Resource Works CEO, Stewart Muir, notes in his latest&nbsp;<em>Power Struggle<\/em>&nbsp;podcast that when Ottawa spiked those opportunities \u201cit was obvious that foregone pipeline projects would eventually cost us dearly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And he adds: \u201cCanada\u2019s exposure to U.S. tariff harms today is the direct result of those bad choices.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As he says (from Leduc AB, where Canada\u2019s oil industry began) oil is Canada\u2019s most valuable export.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even after 158 years as a nation. we\u2019re vulnerable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re still an economic colony, not of Britain like we once were, but of the United States.\u201d<br>And Canada\u2019s exposure to U.S. tariffs today is the direct result of Ottawa\u2019s bad choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe fallout could be brutal.
