A moment to consider forests and forestry

National Forest Week is a reminder of Canada's long dependence on its forests. Keeping them healthy is the only path toward future sustainability.

During National Forest Week, Canadians are invited to learn more about Canada’s forest heritage and to raise awareness about this valuable and renewable resource. Forests are fundamental to our economy, culture, traditions and history – and to our future. Communities, families and individuals depend on forests for their livelihood and way of life.

With major issues always looming – softwood lumber negotiations, pine beetle, fibre supply, access to timber suppliers, to name a few – the need to explain forestry to broad audiences will always exist.
