These issues are not raised very often, and when they are, they can struggle to get the attention they deserve. That’s why we are encouraged to see a whole suite of intriguing writing on gender issues relating to resource industries from the Australian research organization Factive.
The organization is currently promoting the book So you think you’re tough? Getting serious about gender in mining by Dr. Dean Laplonge. This collection of essays reviews years of work exploring gender in the mining industry and challenges mining professionals to think about gender diversity in more complex ways. The book focuses on worthwhile topics such as gender and safety and gender in leadership in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
