Busy time ahead for Resource Works

In communities across British Columbia, Resource Works is part of an emerging movement in support of getting past today's natural resource conflicts. We are also helping keep decision makers abreast of important developments in recognizing the essential role of natural resources in the economy.

Here are some upcoming events where Resource Works is making a difference:

  • May 27: The world will energize itself with or without British Columbia. Executive director Stewart Muir is joining a panel on energy at the BC Chamber of Commerce Annual Conference in Victoria. Whether it’s LNG, oil or clean energy, how can BC businesses, our international partners and governments continue to develop world-class standards and technologies that allow us to tap our resource wealth while preserving the environment for future generations?
  • June 5: Stewart will join an expert panel at a public UBC Dialogues event in Vancouver entitled: Are Canada’s pipeline approvals at odds with our climate commitments? Hosted by Dan Burritt of CBC News, the evening event takes place at the Fairmont Waterfront. Resource Works supporters are invited to come out – your show of support will make a difference. Please note that advance registration is required – just follow the link.
  • June 6 and 7: Stewart will attend a national workshop at the University of Ottawa entitled From Best Practices to Next Practices: Policy-Regulatory Relations in Energy Decision-Making. It will focus on the relationship between policymakers and regulators, investigating how to strengthen and clarify relationships and roles between policymakers and regulators. It couldn’t be timelier given the recent report on the future of the National Energy Board. (BTW, did you know comments are being accepted at that link until June 14?).

Have you got thoughts to share on where the resource conversation is headed? Drop Stewart a line directly, he is always interested in hearing new ideas: stewart@resourceworks.com
